If the AMCs are focused on investor education, consistency in alpha generation, stopping of mis-selling by their associate banks.... (instead of hybrid/close ended/fancy/complex products), investors would create more wealth and would whole heartedly embrace mutual funds. For larger and healthy growth in the long term, the AMCs need to avoid being short sighted and should focus on quality (consistent performance) instead of quantity (larger AUM) in the short term.
