To apply a long/short strategy, one should first be able to do fundamental & technical analysis and should be smart enough to pick out the specific stocks to go long or short.

Good insight,but I am not clear whether our fund houses are practising the same in the funds where derivative mandate is there and if so what is the success rate purely thru market neutral strategy with historical empirical evidence .
